Do Anti-Theft Fuel Caps Actually Work on Motorhomes?

Do Anti-Theft Fuel Caps Actually Work on Motorhomes?
Anti-theft fuel caps provide minimal protection on motorhomes. They're designed for passenger cars with standard filler necks — not for the commercial chassis filler necks on Ford E-450, F-550, F53, Ram 5500, and Workhorse platforms.
Where Anti-Theft Fuel Caps Fall Short
Fit problems: Commercial chassis filler necks have different dimensions. A cap designed for a Ford F-150 won't properly seal or lock on a Ford F-550 or E-450.
Security problems: The lock on a $15–$25 cap can be twisted off with channel-lock pliers, drilled out in 20 seconds, or pried off with a screwdriver.
Coverage problems: An anti-theft cap only protects the cap opening. The filler neck area remains exposed.
The Honest Answer
Anti-theft fuel caps are better than a standard cap with no lock. But they are not real security — especially on a motorhome where the stakes are high.
