RV Fuel Door Replacement: The 15-Minute Fix for Broken and Missing Motorhome Fuel Doors
The RV Fuel Vault is a bolt-on locking fuel door that replaces broken or missing factory fuel doors on Class C (Ford E-350/E-450), Class A gas (Ford F53/Workhorse) and Super C (Ford F-550/F-600, Ram 5500, Freightliner S2RV) motorhomes. It mounts over the existing factory fuel-fill cutout using the factory screw holes — no drilling, cutting or bodywork — and most installs take 8–15 minutes.

Which part fits which chassis
A quick guide for the service counter. Always confirm the exact coach in Find My Fit before ordering.
| Chassis | Part | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ford E-350 / E-450 (Class C gas) | Large door — RVFV-1002L + SS100 security screws | One exposed gas fill on the driver side. |
| Ford F53 / Workhorse (Class A gas) | Large door — RVFV-1002L | Confirm year and floorplan in Find My Fit. |
| Freightliner S2RV (Super C diesel) | Large door — RVFV-1002L + SS100 | One large exposed diesel fill. |
| Ford F-550 / F-600 (Super C) | Small door — single, 2-Pack or 3-Pack (with DEF) | Gas F-550 coaches typically take one small door. Diesel coaches with dual fills and DEF take the 2-Pack or 3-Pack (keyed alike). |
| Ram 5500 (Super C) | Small door packs — some coaches use a 2 Small + 1 Round kit | Varies by coach builder and year. Always confirm by model. |
| GM medium-duty, International, Chevy 4500 gas | Round Bezel door — RVFV-1001R / 2001R | For round factory fuel bezels. A rectangular door will not fit. |
Not a fit for tow vehicles, passenger cars, or Sprinter, Transit or ProMaster van campers.
Installation steps
- 1
Confirm the part
Look up the coach by year, make, model and floorplan in Find My Fit or the fitment database, and match the door size and screw pack to the chassis.
- 2
Remove the factory bezel screws
Remove the screws holding the factory fuel bezel or broken door. Leave the factory fuel cap in place — the RV Fuel Vault covers it, it does not replace it.
- 3
Align the RV Fuel Vault
Set the RV Fuel Vault over the factory fuel-fill cutout and line it up with the existing screw holes. No drilling, cutting or bodywork.
- 4
Secure with the security screws
Fasten with the included security screws (or the existing screws). An impact driver works best. The security screws are larger in diameter — do not over-tighten.
- 5
Test the lock with both keys
Open and close the door and test the lock with both keys before handing the coach back to the customer.

Technician FAQ
Can I replace a broken factory RV fuel door with the RV Fuel Vault?
Yes. Remove the broken factory door or bezel and bolt the RV Fuel Vault over the same factory cutout using the existing screw holes. There is no drilling, cutting or bodywork, and most installs take 8–15 minutes.
Which chassis does it fit?
Class C on the Ford E-350/E-450, Class A gas on the Ford F53/Workhorse, and Super C on the Ford F-550/F-600, Ram 5500 and Freightliner S2RV. A Round Bezel version fits GM medium-duty, International and Chevy 4500 gas coaches with a round factory bezel. It does not fit tow vehicles, cars, or Sprinter, Transit or ProMaster van campers.
Does it replace the fuel cap?
No. The factory fuel cap stays in place underneath. The RV Fuel Vault is a locking door that covers the cap, so the EVAP seal is not affected.
Will it help with a recurring "Check Fuel Inlet" warning on a Ford gas motorhome?
It can help when the cause is dust and grit on an exposed cap seal. A customer's Ford technician traced the warning to dust on the exposed cap and the door solved it. A loose or damaged cap or an EVAP fault should still be checked first.
How can a service shop buy at wholesale?
RV service centers, installers and mobile RV technicians can apply for a wholesale account at thervfuelvault.com/become-a-dealer. The RV Fuel Vault is also stocked by NTP-STAG, Keller Marine & RV and etrailer.
What is the warranty?
Limited Lifetime Warranty, a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, and the $500 No-Siphon Promise for registered, properly installed doors. Made in the USA.
